On this page, you will find frequently asked questions about offering food and drinks (both alcoholic & non-alcoholic) to participants at your tournament this season! FAQ’s 

Am I allowed to offer alcohol at my tournament?

  • Yes, however All alcohol needs to be purchased from The Ranch Golf & CC. This is non-optional as we are regulated by the AGLC (Alberta Gaming, Liquor and Cannabis) and get inspected on a regular basis.
  • Breweries, Sponsors or any other agency are not allowed to bring alcohol onto the property. 

What is the cost of Beer/Liquor for a tournament? 

  • Please contact Trevor (tournaments@theranchgolf.com) for The Ranch’s alcohol pricelist for cost breakdown of all different alcoholic beverage types. 

Can I Purchase Drink Tickets that can be used by players before, during, or after the tournament?

  • Yes! Please refer to the Tournament Package previously sent to you or your event organizer for Drink Ticket options and price.
  • Drink tickets can be redeemed at the beverage cart, snack shack (beside Hole #1 & 10 tee box) or Clubhouse before or during the round, or in the Clubhouse/Banquet Room after the round.
  • The cost of the drink tickets will be added to the final invoice. 

How many Beer/Liquor Holes can I have at my tournament?

  • You are permitted to have a max of Two (2) Beer/Liquor holes total during your tournament – 1 on each nine. This includes Sponsors serving alcohol at their designated hole.
  • You can setup Beer/Liquor holes on any holes (1 per nine) EXCEPT on holes #1 and #10 and Practise Putting Green as the Clubhouse and Snack Shack are in close proximity. 

How many Non-Alcoholic Drink Holes can I have at my tournament?

  • Tournaments are permitted to setup as many Non-Alcoholic Drink holes (bottled water, pop, Gatorade, etc.) as they like.
  • The only restrictions is we do NOT allow any food or drink service (both alcoholic and non-alcoholic) on holes #1, #10 and the Practise Putting Green as the Clubhouse and Snack Shack are in close proximity. 

Where can we serve alcohol during our tournament other than Beer/Liquor holes?

  • Other opportunities to serve drinks include the Beverage Cart, Snack Shack (beside Hole #1 & 10 tee box), Clubhouse, or offering drinks at the beginning/end of the tournament. You can purchase drink tickets that can be used in any of these areas.
  • An example of serving a drink at the beginning of a tournament could be serving a drink at registration or serving a shot of liquor to all players to do a toast when everyone is in their cart ready to go to their starting hole. 

Are we allowed to serve Drinks (alcoholic or non-alcoholic) on a cart during the tournament round to players?

  • No, we do not allow tournament organizers, sponsors, volunteers, etc. to serve drinks (both alcoholic and non-alcoholic) or food (including snacks) on a cart during the round as this is a service the golf course provides with our Beverage Cart.
  • Tournaments are only permitted to serve food or drinks at a hole(s) during the round EXCEPT on holes #1, #10 and the Practise Putting Green as the Clubhouse and Snack Shack are in close proximity.
  • All alcohol needs to be purchased from The Ranch Golf & CC as per AGLC regulations. 

I have a Sponsor (non Beer/Liquor company) that wants to serve alcoholic drinks during the tournament, is this allowed?

  • Yes, however as mentioned previously, all alcohol needs to be purchased from the golf course. The Ranch Golf & CC will work with your sponsor directly on order details for the tournament.
  • For any product that the golf course can receive through our normal suppliers, please refer the sponsor to our alcohol pricelist for cost breakdown of all different alcoholic beverage types.
  • If the Sponsor wants to serve any product that is not carried by the golf course, The Ranch will order the product from our suppliers (if possible). The golf course needs 10 days notice minimum in advance of the tournament to ensure the product arrives in time.
  • Payment for the product can be directed to the sponsor, the final event invoice, or whomever would be covering the cost.
  • Sponsors or any other agency are NOT allowed to bring alcohol onto the property.

I have a Beer/Liquor Sponsor that wants to provide samples or complimentary drinks of their own product during the tournament, is this allowed?

  • Yes, however as mentioned previously, all alcohol needs to be purchased from the golf course. The Ranch Golf & CC will work with your sponsor directly on order details for the tournament.
  • Tournaments are permitted to have a max of Two (2) Beer/Liquor holes total during your tournament – 1 on each nine. This includes Sponsors serving alcohol at their designated hole.
  • For Breweries/Liquor sponsors, The Ranch will order the product from our supplier or from the local Brewery/Liquor company directly if we do not carry their product. Please note there will be a 100% markup on the cost of any product we purchase from a local Brewery/Liquor company that is not carried at the golf course.
  • For any product that the golf course can receive through our normal suppliers, please refer the sponsor to our alcohol pricelist for cost breakdown of all different alcoholic beverage types.
  • The golf course needs 10 days notice minimum in advance of the tournament/event to ensure the product arrives in time.

Can I setup an open tab for my tournament?

  • Absolutely! You just need to let us know if there’s any limitations on the open-tab (drink type, location available, premium spirits, etc.).
  • Alcohol is available and served in the Clubhouse, Snack Shack (beside Hole #1 & 10 Tee box) and Beverage Cart at the golf course. 

Will there be a beverage cart on the course serving Alcohol, Beverages, and Snacks during the tournament?

  • Yes, there will be 1-2 beverage carts (depending on the size of your tournament) on the course during your tournament. 

Will there be staff available from the golf course to serve alcohol/food at a designated hole during my tournament?

  • No, the golf course does not provide any staff or volunteers to operate any Beer/Liquor/food holes. Person(s) would need to be provided on the tournaments end and they should be Pro Serve Certified if serving alcohol. 

Does the golf course provide tables and chairs at drink Holes or any other area of the facility?

  • Yes, the golf course will provide 1 table and 2 chairs at each hole if needed. The event organizer just needs to let us know which holes on the Tournament Organizer Worksheet (sheet 3) and we will make sure everything is setup before your tournament begins.

Does the golf course provide a Barbecue or any other cooking equipment for tournaments?

  • No, the golf course does not provide barbecues or any other cooking equipment for tournaments. All equipment must be brought by the tournament or sponsor that is serving food during the round.
  • Please note that any equipment brought to the course must not damage the course in any way. If any damage occurs, the company organizing the tournament will be liable for the damages even if the damage is caused by one of the tournament’s sponsors/partners. The cost of the damage will be added to the event invoice. 

Are we allowed to store any cooking equipment such as a barbecue at the club in advance or after the tournament is completed?

  • No, the golf course does not store any tournaments equipment in advance of the tournament OR after the tournament is complete.
  • The tournament organizers must ensure all parties bringing any equipment to the golf course must be done on the day of the tournament. After the tournament is complete, equipment must be removed from the golf course and taken off the premises.
  • The Ranch Golf & CC is not responsible for any equipment that is brought or left at the golf course.
